The El Mocambo is a very famous venue. It was opened as a music venue in 1850. The building was first used as a haven for escaped slaves. The name and famous El Mocambo palm tree sign were erected in 1946. It was one of the first establishments in Toronto to obtain a liquor license. Musical acts appeared on separate stages located on the main and second floor of the building. Our show will take place on the 2nd stage in the upstairs El Mocambo.
Many famous artists have graced both the El Mocambo stages, The Rolling Stones, U2, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Blondie, The Ramones, Jimi Hendrix, Meatloaf, Elvis Costello, and the list goes on!! Below are some live shots at the El Mocambo of some of the previously mentioned artists.
