[-Sun.Nov.28th At The El Mocambo Show Review-]

This blog is to review Heroic Entertainment's November.28th-2010 "Battle Against Cancer" Charity Show At The El Mocambo. All footage and pictures are from Sunday's night show.

Success!! That is the word best suited to describe Heroic Entertainments battle against cancer show this past sunday November.28th-2010. Everything went as smooth as it could have. Every single performer was absolutely SPECTACULAR!! As advertised, our main goal was to raise money for cancer awareness, particularly breast cancer awareness(www.CBCF.Org) We held a raffle for two prizes, selling tickets at the doors for 2$ each and it was a hit!! We want to thank everyone who purchased a ticket, and Congratulations to our two lucky winners who won the prizes!! We sent all the donations and proceeds to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation the other day, and they were really thankful!! We want to also thank Killing Isaac & Fair Game for drawing the winning tickets and donating demo's and merch to the prize packs!! And a special thanks to everyone who brought canned food and donated it to the El Mocambo for the less fortunate.

Brizz Ft. Batista(8:00)
What better start to a show then to have Scarborough rap artist Brizz open the show with some great tracks. I do not know how many of our bands sunday night have played a show with a this big of a mixture of genres. But when i looked around at the bands in the audience well Brizz was performing, all I saw was a bunch of smiles, and head bobbing!! And during a part of his song, Brizz told the crowd to get there hands up, then "to the bands on the side, get your hands up" And you can bet they put there hands up and got right into the spirit of the song!! If i had a nickel for eachtime someone came upto me during the set and told me "wow, he's really good" I would be a super rich guy right about now!! The energy Brizz brought to stage can not be taught if you had the best teacher in the world. We look forward to many shows together with Brizz. When we asked him for a qoute on his experience with us, he responded with the following "Heroic Entertainment knows how to set up a good show! I didn't know what to expect at first when I walked in, but there was an aura in the place that brought out the best in everyone there! Heroic Entertainment truly capitalized on this and we all had a great time! Mike and I go WAY back and he always comes through when it's game time - that night at the El Mocambo was no exception! Looking forward to more opportunities to rock more stages across the city!!" We couldn't be happier that he feels that way!! Also on stage with him sunday night was his producer, and friend Batista. Keep your eyes peeled for him as he is a musician as well.

Eighty Nine The Band(8:30)
Eighty Nine The Band is the two piece group that featured Adam Macciocchi Lancia on guitar and vocals, and Joshua Golias on drums. Following up a super hype performance from Brizz, Adam and Josh knew they had to get started on making the crowd get into there super catchy tunes, and they did just that!! I personally enjoyed the second song in there set "You Wanted' And i was more then flattered when i got it dedicated to me!! I was front and center enjoying it live in all its glory. We wanted to see if they enjoyed playing the show, as much as we enjoyed having them, so we asked them how there experience was playing for us, and lead singer and guitarist Adam Macciocchi Lancia said "Performing that night and the whole show in general was amazing. it was our first time playing in a smaller venue and it felt more intimate for Josh and I playing together and for the crowd. It definitely had a more chill atmosphere than the shows you do with other promoters and that was great. Just the whole show in general was awesome and we can wait to party it up again" We can not wait to party it up again with you guys either, and we are certainly glad to hear you had a great time!!

Below is a clip of Eighty Nine The Band playing "I Don't Wanna Waste More Time" at the show sunday.

House Of Coconuts(9:00)
The band consists of Mike Peters on drums,Skyelar Pollack on vocals, Mike Perrotti on guitar and backing vocals, Cecil Eugene also on guitar and backing vocals, and Eric Bozzer on bass. When the guys in House Of Coconuts arrived, lead singer Skyelar Pollack showed up with a cane and limping, clearly injured when asked if he was going to be able to perform still, Skyelar replied "the show must go on" and that is a huge sigh of relief for all the attendees in the audience at the El Mocambo, because he, alongside his 4 band mates put on a great show leaving audience members wanting more. In the past few months House Of Coconuts have been playing numerous amounts of shows, and we are glad they made our show one of them. They have a unique sound and put on a very solid set. Each member put in 110% and the music that came out showed that. Guitarist Cecil Eugene said his experience sunday night was " Incredible! It is probably one of the best shows we've ever had. The guys are very down to earth and humble and I cant wait to play with them again" We are very pleased to know they had such a good experience, because the feeling is 100% reciprocal.

Check out some video footage below from sunday nights show, this is the House Of Coconuts playing one of there songs titled "The Way You Say Goodbye"

Killing Isaac(9:30)
When these Hamilton/Oakville area boys took the stage we knew they were all for the battle against cancer, as more then half of the band members were sporting the Mo-vember mustaches in honour of raising awareness for prostate cancer. Killing Isaac is Jason Prolas on drums and vocals, Joseph Hero on vocals, Alex Pley on guitar, Steven Kennedy on guitar and vocals, ans Robin Funk on bass and vocals. The progressive/alternative rock group had a very solid set and a whole bunch of new fans by the end of the night. They brought out a solid fan base and we had a blast having them play for us and look forward to having them back in early January when we have our next show. A date has yet to be set. When asked about his experience at the show, lead singer Joseph Hero said "It was an awesome time! "You guys were really cool to work with and Very welcoming, I felt like I didn't need to worry about anything except to give it my all on stage, which is NOT always the case. Kudos to the soundboard gentleman as well! Between your crew, the sound engineer, and Max(photographer) on taking pictures, you gave me no doubt in my mind that I'd do it all over again with you guys!" We are beyond pleased to hear this and can not wait for the next time the guys in Killing Isaac play a show for us!!

Killing Isaac has there 3 song demo at every show and can be picked up for free, and T-Shirts can be bought for 15$ I myself purchased a T-Shirt, and it looks great, you can see it below!!
Below is a video of Killing Isaac doing there thing at the show sunday night. Check it out and see for yourself just how solid these great guys really are!!

Fair Game(10:00)
Fair Game is Paul Troop on drums, Matt Hunt on guitar and vocals, Squaley on bass, and Andrew Payne on guitar and vocals. We did not know much about the 4 piece rock group, but what we found out was that the 4 guys who form Fair Game definitely know how to rock out and put on a show!! Another positive thing about these guys is there fan base, the fans that came to support Andrew, Matt, Paul & Squaley were just amazing, fun, kind people, who were out to have a blast, and that they did!! Fair Game is releasing there Demo very soon and will be playing as many shows as they can at a venue near you to promote it. Keep a eye out because in the words of Guitarist Matt Hunt "Fair Game is here to take over the WORLD"

Eyeswithoutaface(10:30)
Closing the show was the 3 piece hardcore trio Eyeswithoutaface. They were definetly the heaviest band on the bill, and caught the attention of many people who heard the sound from the back of the bar, and moved on up once they heard the sound the group was producing. The unique sounding trio closed the show with a bang, and left all fans that attended the sunday night charity event with a smile on there face as the show wound down, and the night finished. There entire EP can be heard on there myspace listed below.
